From the Principal

Dear Parkview Families,

It's hard to believe we are approaching the last week of February already. The daylight is lasting longer and we are thankful the weather is warming up a little bit. We continue to have our students go outside for a recess break as much as possible. Please continue to send in winter clothing for your child for recess.
With all of our students back for in-person learning, our arrival and dismissal has been very busy in the parent pick-up lot. Thank you for your patience as we teach our system to all of our parents who are dropping off and picking up.
  • Please make sure your child is ready to exit your vehicle with their backpack and face mask on
  • Always pull your car all the way up to the flag pole so we can maximize the number of cars able to unload at one time.
  • If you are walking your student from your car, wait for the crossing guard to cross you safely to the school sidewalk.
  • Please do not send your child across the parking lot alone.
As we continue with our celebration for I love to read month, tomorrow, Friday, February 19th is Cuddle Up and Read Day. Students are encouraged to wear comfy clothing. Students should not bring in stuffed animals, blankets, trinkets, etc. Thank you for your help in keeping the extra items out of our building to slow the spread of germs during this time.

Our students and staff continue to do a great job keeping safe during this pandemic. We are grateful for the commitment from our families  to have their children wear a face covering and to keep children home when they are symptomatic or ill. Our collective efforts will keep Parkview healthy!

Have a great weekend,
Nicole Garcia, Principal

Board Members Needed for Next Year's Board

Do you want to make a difference at Parkview? Nominations for Board members will be open in the next month or so with elections taking place in May. There are several board members who will be "retiring" this year. Generally, board positions are held as a team of two thus having 8 board members. Board member meetings are held once a month with general PTO meetings being held on the second Tuesday of the month during the school year. We would love to have you join our next PTO meeting on February 9th to find out more. Here is a summary of the positions on the board:

President - coordinate the work of all the officers and committees so that the purpose of the organization is served. (Effort: year-round, on-going)

Vice President - The vice president shall assist the president and carry out the president’s duties in his or her absence or inability to serve. (Effort: year-round, time varies depending upon roles)

Secretary - The secretary shall keep all records of the organization, take and record minutes, prepare the agenda, handle correspondence, and send notices of meetings to the membership. The secretary also keeps a copy of the minute’s book, bylaws, rules, membership list, and any other necessary supplies, and brings them to meetings. (Effort: 3-4 hours per month, includes
attending meeting and typing up minutes)

Treasurer - The treasurer shall receive all funds of the organization, keep an accurate record of receipts and expenditures, and pay out funds in accordance with the approval of the Executive Board and Parkview Elementary PTO Financial Guidelines. He or she will present a financial statement at every meeting and at other times of the year when requested by the Executive Board and make a full report at the end of the year. (Effort: 4-5 hours per month, average)
