Hi <<First Name>>
Please vote and support our work
As a charity we’re strictly forbidden from getting involved in party political issues but as this week’s all about voting we thought we could get you in practice by voting for Gig Buddies in the Aviva Community Fund initiative. Just click this link Aviva Community Fund - Vote Gig Buddies!
If successful it will support us to open up our bulging waiting lists in Brighton and Hove and West Sussex and also set us on the route to being able to create Gig Buddies in a Box – our project to support other organisations around the UK to replicate our work, with our support.
You also get 10 votes, which you can all give to us, or spread around other projects.
It only takes a second too, and registering is very easy. Please tell your friends and share on your Facebook and Twitter.
Which kind of support worker are you?
We had a thought provoking email from People First Dorset this week which prompted me to write this blog about the types of support workers which can be spotted at a typical club night for people with learning disabilities.
We’d love to get some debate going on this, perhaps you’d like to disagree with our sweeping generalisations?
Also it’s been lovely to get messages from support workers who identify themselves as being a ‘Type 5’.
The next part of our plan is to start meeting some of these great people, and their managers to film short interviews to find out how they do what they do.
Kiss My Disco - 5th May, Bexhill
We don't often advertise club nights in our emailer (except for in the events list) but we have a soft spot for Kiss My Disco as we started this with Nick at Freshtrack DJs . It's great to see how the nights are going from strength to strength as Freshtrack take on the running of the nights themselves and we'd thoroughly recommend getting along to the De La Warr Pavilion, Bexhill, on Tuesday 5th May as you'll have a great night out.
That’s all from us for a few weeks, we’re going to be busy working on the design for our stall at Glastonbury.
Happy voting and thanks for your ongoing support!
Best wishes
Paul and everyone at Stay Up Late
