Featured Performer of the Month....
From the time she was ten years old singing 'Tomorrow' from Annie at her school talent show, Christine Hjorth has had the showbiz bug. With the support of her family, they encouraged her to keep singing by driving her to and from numerous practices and auditions both in school and at local community theaters. She adds "when I was younger no matter where we were - like at an amusement park - if there was a show being performed I would somehow end up on the stage."
A huge fan of musical theater, Christine draws inspiration from Patti LuPone, Bernadette Peters, and Sutton Foster. But showtunes aren't the only songs on this singer's playlist. She also enjoys listening to Top 40 music to hip hop and beyond. She also admits that someday she'd love to try her hand at jazz. Maybe the Spotlight Cabaret can help make that dream come true.
Christine is also an inspiration to us! She is living her dream raising her two children and being a wife. After taking a break from performing to raise her family, Christine was thrilled to learn about the Spotlight Cabaret and become a regular performer. Singing in the cabaret has also helped her discover a whole new side to her as a performer. "Unlike a musical theater production where you have the aid of sets, costumes, props, and plot lines - in a cabaret you have to get to the emotion of a song just through yourself. - It has given me the confidence to push myself to really choose songs that pull the audience in with me."
The Spotlight Cabaret is honored to have Christine Hjorth as one of our regular featured performers. Her dynamic personality, sense of humor, and powerhouse voice are only a few reasons why we love her. Christine, THANK YOU for your constant support and dedication.
