CliniSync HIE is working with LifeSource Health Inc. on immediate data access for EMTs in NE Ohio.

Dr. Anthony Bacevice's perspective on CliniSync

It's always great to have champions when you're trying to accomplish something different, difficult and innovative.

We're honored that Anthony E. Bacevice, Jr., M.D., a member of our CliniSync Advisory Council, wrote about the impact of electronic health records and the CliniSync Health Information Exchange on the medical profession and its patients.

In a recently published article in the Academy of Medicine of Cleveland & Northern Ohio (AMCNO) newsletter, Electronic Health Records, CliniSync and AMCNO, he explains the critical role hospitals, physicians, associations, and many of those who touch a patient's care have had on the formation and evolution of our organization.

Dr. Bacevice is past-president of AMCNO and Chief Medical Officer at University Hospitals Elyria Medical Center. He is a member of the CliniSync Advisory Council, which advises staff on operations, procedures and policies, and also provides recommendations to the Board of Directors. Here's a snippet of his comments:

One of the most important consequences of the EHR...is the ability to interconnect hospitals, laboratories, physicians and other providers for the purpose of exchanging data to support the care of the patient across multiple care sites and encounters.

Interconnection is through the health information exchange (HIE), which provides both the hardware and software to enable communication among these entities.

Wherever and whenever a patient encounters the healthcare environment, his or her information can be made available to those with a “need to know” to have all necessary information at hand for optimally efficient care delivery.

Here is his article. Thank you for your support, Dr. Bacevice!

We're in the news with EMTs

Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs) in Northeast Ohio will now be able to access patient health information as they're doing their emergency runs, on the spot. LifeSource Health Inc. will begin operations in Ohio by deploying its AtTheScene™ cloud-based mobile platform for EMTs.

After signing an agreement with CliniSync, the company also signed a pilot agreement with Physicians Ambulance Service, Inc., which is an EMS service providing emergency medical transport of 55,000 cases per year in Northeast Ohio. We're excited to be involved in this new and critical development where patient health information can be used to provide the best possible care for Ohioans in an emergency. We will keep you updated on how it progresses.

Here is the news story in Yahoo Finance.

Hospitals: Meet our new interface analyst

Aaron Nusstein, a data implementation manager, joined CliniSync and the Ohio Health Information Partnership this month as an Interface Analyst on CliniSync’s Health Information Exchange team.

Aaron is responsible for managing the existing hospital interfaces that we currently have with our pool of 150 hospitals, most of which are live.

He will monitor any changes made to those interfaces and will ensure that any hospital upgrades are implemented smoothly. As the Interface Analyst, he will analyze data and improve our internal and external reporting processes, as well as create maintenance and status reports.

Here's Aaron's biography. He's a proud Miami U grad!

4/5 is OHIT Day at the Statehouse

Ohio Health Information Technology Day
April 5, 2017
8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. at the Columbus Statehouse

The theme for this year is Ohio SB 332 Commission on Infant Mortality Recommendations & Health Information Technology.

Learn about Ohio's efforts to reduce its infant mortality rate. The number of babies born in Ohio who die before their first birthday remains unacceptably high. Ohio ranks 45th in the nation for its overall infant mortality rate with a rate of 7.33 infant deaths per 1,000 live births. How can Healthcare IT help?

Find out at the 10th annual Ohio Healthcare Information Technology Day (OHIT Day), a collaborative effort between many chapters of HIMSS and OHIMA. OHIT Day is held at the Ohio Statehouse Atrium & Legislative Offices in Columbus to directly engage state officials and address Health IT for the benefit all Ohioans.
