Many of you follow along on Instagram and watched over the two years as Walter went from a scared, hissing ferel to a cat that greeted me daily, riding on my shoulder, and sitting on my lap. After he died, I knew I had to write a book about his journey. Getting the timeline all written down in front of me, knowing it took almost the first year to touch Walter, just seeing that journey unfold again on paper has been both moving, inspiring and humbling to know he opened up and trusted me.
It is also healing.
Fully illustrated, with photos and art, a hard cover with illustrated end sheets [a must for me!], 58 pages, 6 x9".
The book will be in production all summer with a delivery date to me of late September. It goes to press in a few weeks.
This book is now in pre-sales. As an indie publisher who has to put money into the upfront printing cost, pre sales help me recover my pre press and printing costs sooner. There are different levels too, you can simply buy one book, or you can add a tip and also receive a print, or give a large tip if you feel inclined.
This is a beautiful story about a cat, and a woman, who both allow each other to move at their own pace and both end up with open hearts, both end up giving love and receiving it.
In a beautiful gesture of love, our volunteer, Polly Steadman, is having a series of art sales and all proceeds will go to Apifera. This is made more humbling for me due to the fact that Polly is living with stage 4 lung cancer. Last week, we were so happy that restrictions had been altered at her residence and Harry and I could see her for the first time since last spring [the photo above is Harry giving her a much needed kiss]. Next week, Harry has been invited to attend the closing reception of one of her art shows in Damariscotta [at Savory Maine cafe]. Harry has no idea what to wear, but he is sporting his new summer haircut.
