Dear <<First Name>>,

We had a productive AGM earlier in the summer, discussing and refining options for linking the men's and women's race distances.  These are summarised here.

'Town Hall' Zoom Meeting on Wednesday 15th September

We'll be holding a meeting via Zoom to present these options in more detail, and field any questions, at 6:30pm on Wednesday 15th September.  There won't be a vote at this meeting, which is purely so that league members can get a better idea of the pro's and con's of each option.  If you attended the AGM you will probably be familiar with these anyway.

To register for this meeting, please use this link, by Saturday 11th September. We'll send out the Zoom invitation a couple of days before the meeting.  Anyone from an affiliated club can register, although if there are huge numbers we might have to restrict numbers.  Representatives from national and county athletics associations, and affiliated officials, are also welcome.

What Happens Next?

  • Voting for the favoured proposal will open the day after the meeting, and close at midnight on Sunday 26th September.  As for the AGM (and in our constitution), each club can cast 2 votes, which may be for the same or different options, and league committee members have one vote;
  • Votes will go to Derek Osborne (League Vice Chairman) and copied in to Roland Sherwood (Chairman, see note below).  A single email from a senior committee member should cast both votes on behalf of each member club, using preformatted email to give a standard format;
  • Once the votes have closed, we will publish the total number of votes cast for each option, and also the name and club of all voters (without revealing how they voted) to ensure no foul play.
  • The most popular option will be identified, and clubs will then be asked, in a second round of voting, to confirm or reject their support for this option.
  • The second round closes on 10th October, again with Derek cc Roland receiving the votes.

Regrettably, following his recent operation, our Chairman would prefer not to take responsibility for moving this forward, but please keep him copied in.
