Dear <<First Name>>,
We're looking forwards to seeing you back in action again at the first Gwent Cross-Country League match in Cardiff next Saturday. You'll find full information about this event linked here. This email focusses on issues particular to (a) holding this league fixture in conjunction with the Cardiff Cross Challenge, and (b) precautions to protect you and us from Covid-19.
If you're new to team managing in the Gwent League, you'll find information about declarations, disks and team envelopes here. Please remember that the league is a team orientated event, for members of registered clubs, and that declarations can only be made by your club's designated team managers.
What to Bring
As well as your usual packing list, including pre-printed declaration sheets, please could team managers bring some small plastic bags (see below), and athletes should bring safety pins.
Please please please could team managers declare all (or as many as possible) teams at once, to avoid unnecessary visits and crowding in the registration tent.
You should declare (and pay for) everyone participating in the Gwent League, regardless of whether they are also part of the Cardiff Cross Challenge.
As well as envelopes, pick up enough 'Gwent League' bibs for everyone who is not part of the Cardiff Cross Challenge.
Vests and Bibs
We're aware that, after 18 months with no team endurance events, many youngsters have outgrown their club vests, and some clubs have had difficulty in obtaining fresh stocks, with very long lead times. With this in mind, while we hope that everyone will be proudly wearing their club colours, the race referee may turn a blind eye to infringements in the younger age groups/lower places for this first fixture only. This applies only to those who are NOT part of the Cardiff Cross Challenge. Cardiff Cross Challenge runners MUST wear their club vest.
If you have entered the Cardiff Cross Challenge, please wear the number provided.
For those who have NOT entered the Cardiff Cross, please wear the 'Gwent League' bibs, which your team manger collects from registration. You will need to provide your own pins.
Everyone will be handed a position disk at the finish, as usual, and non-league runners will be asked to put theirs in a bucket at the finish. Team managers please stress that their runners (especially youngsters) need to hang onto their disk and bring it back to them.
We recommend that team managers bring small plastic bags (1 per team). As you greet your runners, get them to place their disks in the bag, so you can check them without handling. Once you have all your team's disks, complete the results envelope, insert the disks bag into it, seal and place in the correct box at the finish (there are different boxes for seniors and juniors).
For queries about results AFTER the race:
Don't Rush Us! If the results aren't on the website, it's because we're still working on them! Peter is compiling the senior results for the first time.
We hope you have a great day next week.
