Dear <<First Name>>,

Saturday's Gwent League at Blaise Castle is going to be a bit of a challenge.  Not only are we changing the system of registration to use bar coded numbers, and there will be the usual difficult parking, but some guy called King Arthur has built a castle right where our course should go (photo below).

As always, we rely on your club's hard working team managers to get you organised.  Please support them, and don't come asking about registration if you're not a team manager.

The registration of runners, picking up the block of numbers (by ONE manager), handing them out, and (more importantly) hanging on to both used and unused numbers for the next fixture [is described here].

We hope that bar code scanning will keep pace with finishers, but since this is a new system, 'backups' may occur, so please be patient.  Results processing for this first event with the new system may also be slower, and we might produce individual race results initially, before team and overall standings.

When Peter checked late on Sunday night, there were very few numbers allocated for the following clubs: Aberdare !! Cardiff AAC !! Cardiff Archers, Cardiff Met Uni, Crickhowell, Dragon RC, Fairwater Runners, GoodGym Race Team, Great Western Runners, Les Croupiers !!, Llanelli, Merthyr Running Club, Merthyr Triathlon Club, Neath (only signed up on Sunday evening), Ogmore Phoenix, Pegasus Running Club, Penarth and Dinas ! Pontyclun AC, Pontypridd Roadents ! Rhymney Valley AC, Sarn Helen, Southville Running Club, Torfaen Runners, University of Swansea.  Again, this list is numbers actually allocated, and from Sunday night.

Parking and Other Facilities
Parking (which will be difficult) and other facilities [are described here].  As always, car parking is limited, so please share lifts, arrive early and be prepared to walk.  You now have to [pay to parkin Blaise Castle main car park, and if you stay more than 5 hours, top-up payment. Note we're using different car parks this year, and that the Riding Stables and Nursery Car Parks will close at 4pm prompt.

If you're bringing a coach, please let me know so we can cone off a parking bay for you (and NB coaches are also charged for parking).

The Course
Because King Arthur keeps moving his fortress boundaries around, minor course changes are possible on the day.  We'll be using small white 'cricket boundary' flags to mark straight sections of the course.

Power of 10 Results
We sent Gwent League results from Cardiff off to Power of 10 soon after the match, but they have recently told us they won't be published until they are merged with the (non-Gwent League) Cardiff Cross results.  We're sorry, but that isn't going to happen until after this weekend's fixture.

Regards,
Neil
