Dear <<First Name>>,
Here are various updates following from the 2022 AGM and subsequent clarifications and commitments.
Fixtures for this season will be:
- Saturday 15th October: Cardiff (in conjunction with the Cardiff Cross Challenge, which this year will have full international status)
- Saturday 12th November: Blaise Castle, Bristol
- Saturday 3rd December: Pembrey
- 11th OR 12th February: TBD, possibly Pont-y-Pwl
- 4th OR 5th March: TBD, possibly Margam Park, Port Talbot
The meeting voted unanimously to leave the recommended Women's Race Distance unchanged.
We will be using the same scoring system at Cardiff as last year, but starting at the second fixture will be using an online entry system (which will close the night before the fixture), with bar coded numbers. Clubs will be encouraged to enter everyone who might run, and will only be charged for finishers. Entered names will remain on the system for the whole season (no need to re-enter for the second fixture, etc.), but runners will need to keep their numbers.
If anyone has experience with GoPro or similar waterproof cameras, please could they contact Peter Burton. We're particularly keen to know about experiences with battery life, because we would like to leave a camera running on the finish funnel all afternoon as a backup for scanned numbers.
Lesley Stowe will join the committee as Treasurer, Russ Forsbrook as Awards Officer, and Dawne Meynell replacing Lesley as Officials Coordinator (checks availability of officials before each fixture). Other posts remain unchanged.
Brecon AC were awarded the Gilbert Legge trophy for the club of the year, while Neil Miller won the Sheilah Crump trophy for volunteer. If you have these or any other trophies, please let the chairman know, as we have lost track of some through the pandemic!
No changes with scoring this season, but at the 2023 AGM we will discuss ways of reducing fixture congestion for young athletes, including replacing the March fixture with a January date, and/or scoring 4 out of 5 junior fixtures (as this year) with the final fixture not 'compulsory'.
