Pod'n'Pedal - shortlisted for an award.

We are delighted that Podnpedal has been shortlisted for Cumbria Tourism's  'Tourism Experience Award'  This is a major achievement for a company that has only been operating for 12 months.  Podnpedal, a cycle touring experience, is run jointly by Park Cliffe at Windermere, Castlerigg Hall at Keswick and The Quiet Site at Ullswater.

Staff - some old, some new.. and some just the same..!
We are very happy to welcome Clare, Adam, Ben, Dennis, Simon and James to our team. They join Sarah, Ruth, Ann, Judy, Dorothy and Lou. Hopefully you will all know who the old one is...

Grass Tents - Hobbits in Cumbria

An exciting new development is nearing completion.  Our first GrassTent will open its door for the first time in the next few weeks.  Bilbo Baggins and friends  will be very welcome for a unique Cumbrian holiday experience.  Hobbits in Cumbria
!  The picture shown is similar to the Grass Tent we will be offering.

The New Aira Pier

We are very excited to say work is progressing quickly on Aira Pier ready for sailings to commence towards the end of May.
This will give the opportunity to enjoy a short cruise to National Trust Aira Force to visit the waterfall, then take a leisurely wander on the new 3 mile walk back to Glenridding.

Evening Cruises

Thanks to the 'Drive Less See More Campaign' Ullswater Steamers are running extra evening sailings from Pooley Bridge to Howtown and back on Thursday evenings from 28th May to 3rd September 2015. The cruise will leave Pooley Bridge at 6.30pm and Howtown at 7pm. Returning to Pooley Bridge at 7.30pm.

Twizy alert...

The Quiet Site has been successful in securing  an electric car so we can be part of the Cumbrian electric car network.  The quirky, two seater Twizy, electric car  will be available for hire from the site sometime in June. We will also be introducing a PodnTwizy experience later in the year so watch this space..!

Pony rides..
If you have a young child who would be interested in having a ride on one of the Quiet ponies please let us know before you arrive - we will try and arrange for a pony to visit at the same time as you!

Quietly Greener
The Quiet Site will continue to operate as a carbon neutral company. Our unavoidable carbon emissions are offset by a program of local tree planting. Sustainable operating methods are being adopted wherever possible and we are always trying to implement new initiatives to save natural resources. We introduced our first reed bed water treatment plant 10 years ago and have undertaken major projects every year costing in total over £1 million pounds.
