The Quiet News February 2016
The wettest winter on record feels like it may be coming to an end as I look out onto sunny, snow covered fells for the first time in what seems likes months. The annual rainfall in the lakes is remarkably consistent so we are happy to see the rain falling now, in the hope that a cracking dry summer will follow.
As many of you know the bridge at Pooley Bridge was washed away in December. A temporary replacement bridge will be in place by Easter so the east side of the lake will be easily accessible once again. Glenridding is firing on all cylinders once more and we are all looking forward to the brighter spring weather.
As ever, we have been tackling lots of new site projects this winter. If you have any thoughts or ideas on anything you would like to see happen here at The Quiet Site, please let us know. We want you to have the best holidays here possible..!
Hobbit Holes
After a period of constructive negotiation with the Lake District Special Planning Board, The Quiet Site has been given planning permission to build another nine Hobbit Holes, giving us a total of ten..!
We are very excited and work has already started on the preparation with a view to making the new Hobbit Holes available from May 2016.
We will be making some of the Hobbit Holes dog friendly. The views from the round windows are, as you will see from the photo, some of the best The Quiet Site offers.
See More with a Twizy
Two Twizy cars arrived at The Quiet Site last week as part of the See More campaign. A Twizy is a two seater electric car with a range of around 50 miles. They are clean, fun and available for hire now Hire rates: 2 hours for £20. Half day £25. Full day £45.
They can be booked on line or by phoning 07768727016.
The Ullswater Way
After much work by the Ullswater Association, a network of existing footpaths are now linked and signposted to form a complete walk around Ullswater. This network is to be called The Ullswater Way. We are just a few hundred meters from this new linked path and look forward to walking the circuit ourselves in the near future.
VW Weekends
11th & 12th March
11th & 12th November
Two more VW weekends are planned after the success of our first one last November. Live music, a good bar and lots of VW's will again set the scene. Our first VW weekend was sold out so book early to avoid disappointment.
Caravan & Motorhome Show, Manchester
We had a really enjoyable time at Event City in January... our first ever show! The event gave us a chance to unveil our new Quiet Site livery; smart shirts and jackets with the Quiet Site logo and website.
It was lovely to see and chat to so many of our current TQS customers and potential new ones too.
