The Quiet Site

Hello from the Quiet Site.

Wow.. it's windy!

But despite the weather we are having a very busy September.  Our all weather camping pitches, which allow all year use, are busy being copied by sites all over the UK and were the subject of a recent article in the BH&HPA journal. Initial reactions to the pea gravel centered grass pitches is usually a little 'reserved' but by the end of a 'typical' Cumbrian holiday the lack of squidgy mud means that these pitches are always the first to be booked.  Our heated Camping Pods are also proving very popular.  They provide an ideal winter camping fix  and really seem to lift the spirits.
Our thermal solar panels have generated in excess of  28000 Kw hours worth of hot water this summer. The lovely sunny weather has helped. We are using around half the gas that we used before the solar panels were fitted.
It looks like we are only going to have one pitch for a new holiday home for 2012 so give the office a call if you fancy a base for the next 15 years in one of England's most spectacular valleys.
The Quiet Site cottages sleep up to 15 in Luxury and are available for week bookings and short breaks throughout the winter months. Some special offers apply, see below.

HOYS debut
This month's picture shows Dougal and George jumping the last to win the biggest class at the BSPS summer championships this August.  George can often be found behind the shop till during the school holidays helping out.  The Quiet Site sponsor the pair providing rugs and transport. They have qualified to compete at the country's most prestigious show, the Horse of the Year Show in October so fingers and hooves crossed!

Facebook  We are now on Facebook,  Welcome!

Current Special Offers
We have lots of offers on for the winter months.  They change every few weeks so keep an eye on this link:  Accommodation Special Offers.  Forget New England, try old Cumbria for the autumn colours!

Stayed with us Before?
We’d love to hear about it.   We are committed to constantly improving everyone's holiday experience at The Quiet Site, and one way we can do this is by listening to what you, our guests, tell us after your visit.  At there is a simple questionnaire which allows you to rate different aspects of your stay. Good, bad or indifferent, we'd love to know!  Thank you for giving us your thoughts - and for helping us make The Quiet Site even better for your next visit!

Hello and Goodbye
This month we said goodbye to Mick and Parul.  They have been with us for 4 years and have worked incredibly hard.  They have just got married and we all wish them well in their new lives together. Good Luck!
New staff starting include Sam (please direct any fishing questions here please!) and local boy Paul.  Paul also works as a walking guide so will be pleased to help you plan your route.  In the office Ros and Lee-anne will continue to bring organisation and humour to your holiday experience.
Premier Parks.  The Quiet Site has been invited to join the prestigious Premier Parks group.

Cumbria Tourism Awards
Having eaten virtually nothing for for two weeks to squeeze into the trusted suit we all set off for the Awards ceremony, this year held in a super Kendal hotel.  We had been nominated by industry experts for two awards this year, Sustainable business of the year and Holiday park of the year. Last year we were runner up in the Holiday park of the year and sadly we were pipped again this year (remember Richard Burton and Cary Grant never won an Oscar..)
No matter, we still had the Sustainable award to be anounced.  The suit creaked as the nominations were read out. Guess what, pipped again, this time by the local business 'Ullswater Steamers'.   So Ullswater took first and second which, looking at the big picture, has to be a good thing.  We are now going forward to compete in the National Visit England Awards for Excellence.   Again, fingers and hooves crossed!
AA Inspector Calls
The following is an extract from last months AA site visit;    'I spent a very enjoyable night here and was impressed by levels of customer care and range of facilities.  Daniel Holder is to be commended for his continuing investment within this popular holiday destination, resulting in year on year improvements to enhance the customer experience.  The dedication to a sustainable energy policy is also noteworthy, with the effective solar panel water system to be improved by a woodburning boiler planned for this winter.  The refurbished ladies amenities have that ‘wow’ factor, with quality fixtures and fittings and the creation of a dry area within shower cubicles is an additional benefit.  The final terracing of tenting areas and the planting of 1,000 new trees will add further colour and privacy to a very special site.
In terms of AA Quality Standards, The Quiet Site continues to achieve a Four pennant rating within The AA Caravan & Camping Scheme, with an increased Quality score of 87%, to reflect the many positive changes since our last assessment.'
Caravan Storage
Don't forget about The Quiet Site's sister company   The Quiet Site will collect your van before your holiday and return to storage after you have finished your holiday at no cost!

And finally, a recent survey by the Camping and Caravanning club have concluded that camping holidays are good for your health!

Enjoy the Autumn and we all look forward to seeing you again soon.
