A Personal Appeal from Worldmeets.US
Founder William Kern: Please Help Support
Our Work on Behalf of Our Nation and World
Today, I am asking you to make a donation in support of Worldmeets.US, a young non-profit dedicated to better educating the American people and the English-speaking world.
Worldmeets.US is not a commercial enterprise. It is an educational institution available at no charge to people in every corner of the globe - and we intend to keep it that way. Indeed, if we are to create a community of people that includes some of the very poorest in the world, we must keep it free of charge. That means we have to convince you, the people we serve, that what we do is worth supporting, with time, talent and yes - financial support.
For those interested in a more detailed explanation of the project, how it works and why we do it, NPR Host Marc Steiner interviewed me on Monday for his nightly broadcast at Maryland's WEAA.
Please donate today to support our mission. You can donate through Google Checkout, PayPal, or by check. Your tax-deductible donation will enable us to hire the professionals we need to upgrade the current site and design the Worldmeets.US online community; find, trans-copyedit, package, post and proofread more non-English content about our nation; and help us begin generating teaching materials for people studying languages, comparative politics and a range of other subjects. And it will help fund the integration of the tools we need to overcome the language barrier, bringing to fruition a unique community of people in and out of the United States, intent on knowing one another and helping change our world from the bottom up. The time to hope that governments will do so for us is long past. Increasingly, we have the tools in our hands, and it is time for us to take more responsibility as individuals to promote greater understanding.
This is a very special time of year, no matter your religion or country of origin. It is an end and hence a new beginning. It is a time to share a sense of renewal and hope with the people we love. And it is a time to take a deep breath and redouble our efforts to make the world a better place. From all of the people around the world that make this project possible, I want to thank you for participating in our work.
Although the content will continue, our final news roundup of the year will be sent this evening. Thank you for your time and attention. On behalf of the Worldmeets.US global team, I wishyou, your family, and all of your loved ones, a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. Let us look forward to 2011 with a renewed sense of committment to the ideals we hold dear.
