From the Community Lay Director
Greetings in Peace,
Do you have questions about the Emmaus Ministries and your role as a community member? Well, I am pleased to share that a series of eLearning resources provided by the Upper Room will help each of us to be better Emmaus Community members. These resources are available at no cost and can be completed at your own pace and schedule. The training covers three areas:
- The Why – this describes the purpose of the Emmaus Ministries.
- Community Training – this training provides information about the Board of Directors, Ecumenical Understanding, Fourth Day, Sponsorship, Team Selection, and the Theology of Emmaus.
- Spiritual Director Training - this training prepares Spiritual Directors for service on a Walk and is recommended for all community clergy.
I encourage you to take advantage of this training today at the link below:

It is amazing how quickly Christmas things are displayed on the store shelves during the fall season. Before we can get through Halloween the trees, ornaments and decorations start to show up. Then well before Thanksgiving, Walmart, Target and Costco are in full Christmas shopping swing. This is a time of the year when we can get so busy that we may forget the reason for the season.
Luke 2:11
Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord.
So, this holiday season let’s spend time with Jesus. As a community, let’s celebrate the birth of our King and Savior. I pray you will have a gloriously blessed and happy Christmas!
Christ is Counting on You!

Missouri East Emmaus Community Newsletter
We are a community of prayer warriors. Please lift up the following in prayer:
Prayers for other communities that are having upcoming Emmaus Walks, Chrysalis, Koinonia, and Kairos events (http://emmaus.upperroom.org/finder/events)
Prayers for the Emmaus Board and the Face to Face Steering Committee
Prayers for our country and its elected leaders
Prayers for the physical and mental health of those we know and do not know
Prayers for under-represented and marginalized populations
Prayers for our pastors and other church leaders
Prayers for EACH of us as we remember the REAL reason for the season
Come, Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of your faithful and kindle in us the fire of your love. Send forth Your Spirit and we shall be created. And you shall renew the face of the earth. O God, who by the light of the Holy Spirit did instruct the hearts of the faithful, grant that by the same Holy Spirit we may be truly wise and ever enjoy Your consolations. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.
(You may email prayer requests of an ongoing nature to mitzib024@gmail.com to be included here, but please remember that our schedule is to publish every other month. If the prayer need is more immediate, please notify our Community Lay Director Steve Wallace (kswallac@swbell.net) about the possibility of doing an email blast.)
