Growing Bolder

After more than 50 years and eight nominations, David Hackett has taken his rightful place in the Skateboarding Hall of Fame. And Growing Bolder was there for the induction ceremony and celebration.

The “Hackman” started skating at the age of 5, winning his first world championship a decade later. He won his last — at least for now! — at the age of 55. He has never stopped skateboarding, has never considered stopping, and says he will always chase dreams on and off the board.

Growing Bolder CEO and Marc Middleton was so inspired after meeting David that he wrote an open letter in support of and about the skateboarding icon, and the list of reasons why he believed David deserved this Hall of Fame honor.

Catch up on David Hackett’s inspirational story:
You first fell in love with Loretta Swit with her smoldering portrayal of Margaret “Hot Lips” Houlihan on M*A*S*H. Even she never expected to still be acting at 80, but that’s exactly what she’s doing.
The "Man With the Golden Arm" is retiring, and has made his last donation. Since he started donating his blood at age 18 and then, later, his plasma, it's estimated Australian James Harrison has saved the lives of more than 2 million babies. Bravo, Mr. Harrison! Read more about his story, and why he never wanted to be called a hero.
