SINGING FOR THE SOUL

Since she was a young girl, music has always been a major part of Jodi Tassos’ life, and at the age of 80, her love of the arts only continues to grow. For the past 14 years, she’s nurtured the musical education of those 55 and older as director of the Young at Heart Chorale, a non-auditioned group that attracts both people with decades of musical experience like Tassos and those who can’t read a note of music.

Come along as the Young at Heart Chorale performs a patriotic themed set for a very special audience — some of our nation’s veterans currently residing at a VA Hospital — and see how both the performers and the audience leave the event feeling inspired, engaged and full of joy.

ALL GAVE SOME. SOME GAVE ALL.

As the United States prepares to honor the men and women who have made the ultimate sacrifice in the name of freedom, we want to take a moment to shine the spotlight on those who have served, who currently serve and to the families across America who are supporting someone who may currently be serving in the armed forces.

Memorial Day is a chance to reflect on our history and to look to the future. It is a tradition that dates back to the American Civil War (previously called Decoration Day) and also marks the unofficial start of the summer season.
On Monday, when Memorial Day is observed as a federal holiday, the flag of the United States will be lowered to half-staff until noon, when it will be returned to full-staff for the rest of the day.

This is designed to be a tribute from the living to the dead, and a commitment to continue the fight for liberty and justice for all. (source)

THANK YOU TO ALL OF OUR BRAVE AND BOLD SERVICE MEMBERS AND THEIR FAMILIES.

Thanks to easy-to-use DNA testing kits and sites, genealogy is all the rage these days. Doing a little digging is something Joanie Schirm knows all about. It led her to a remarkable discovery in an old desk.
Robert Hill, one of the world’s top ballet dancers, was determined that his retirement from dancing would not mean a retirement from dance. Mission accomplished. See how he continues Growing Bolder.
It’s not easy to make a living fixing and selling guitars, yet Billy Fels and Doug Montgomery have been at it for 40+ years, helping guitarists like Jimmy Buffett and Bruce Springsteen to everyday Joes and Janes!
When Judy Myers was 53, some friends dared her to try barefoot water skiing. She was terrified, but couldn't turn down a dare! More than 20 years later, she is one of the oldest female competitive barefoot water skiers in the country.
