We are heartbroken that our friend and colleague Wendy Chioji has passed away after a valiant battle with cancer. Wendy was an inspiration to all who knew her and to the countless others who knew of her. Her story, shared for years in her candid and always uplifting blog, was a rare insight into the toll taken by this insidious disease and the power of the human spirit to overcome. Wendy was truly one of a kind. We were blessed by her friendship and constantly inspired by her example. She didn't lose her battle. She simply ran out of time.

In her final interview, she spoke to her friend of more than 30 years, Growing Bolder Founder and CEO Marc Middleton, about her life philosophy, her greatest passions and revealed why she didn't fear death. It's a honest, inspirational conversation that will encourage you to take advantage of every opportunity you have in life to Say Yes, to Live Fearlessly and to Defy.

Defy was one of Wendy's favorite words. It was more than a word; it was a guiding force in her life. In the Fall issue of Growing Bolder Magazine, she penned an essay about her talent for defying the odds throughout her entire life, whether it was her parents' rules as a kid, as a young TV reporter or as a three-time cancer warrior.

One of the greatest gifts Wendy left us is her own words. She blogged regularly about her cancer journey, her world travels, her fitness adventures and her beloved cats. Through these posts, not only will you get to know and love Wendy, you'll be inspired to make every day the best it can be.
