Today at 2 pm at the Art Gallery of Ontario
This is totally short notice, and I don't know if it's your kind of thing, but with all the stuff going on lately, I kind of forgot to share that it's happening. Today.
Basically, I'm going to be giving a short talk and participating in a panel for Canzine 2015 today at the Art Gallery of Ontario, and I thought I'd let you know in case you might be interested.
Canzine is a one-day festival of ‘zine culture and the independent arts, and I’ll be presenting on and participating in a panel titled “Magick and the Occult in the Independent Arts.â€
I’ll be on the panel with several other people, including Jenna Danchuk, the assistant editor for my magazine, Spiral Nature. We’ll be chatting about the role of magic, divination, witchcraft and the occult in our work and practices and in ‘zine culture at large.
Canzine 2015 takes place on Saturday, October 17th from 1-7 pm at the Art Gallery of Ontario in Toronto.
There is no fee for entry; it’s totally free.
Our panel takes place from 2-2:50 pm. For more info, including the full list of panellists, see “Magick and the Occult in the Independent Arts.â€
There's a bunch of other neat stuff happening, and your (free) entry comes with a (free) issue of Broken Pencil, which is a great resource for the independent arts: comics, 'zines, books, art of all kinds.
I don't know if it's your kind of thing, but occult 'zines are really neat cultural artifacts, and I've selected a dozen or so that I'm going to use for illustrative purposes, and I've got a little one-page zine on the 'zine as artifact that I'm going to share as well.
Apologies for the short notice! I hope you can make it!
Best,
Nico Mara-McKay
