Schools closed for 6 weeks to reduce spread of coronavirus COVID-19 • Schools and district office closed to public
Last night, Oregon Governor Kate Brown ordered all Oregon schools to remain closed for students until April 28 to protect students, staff and communities from the spread of coronavirus COVID-19. The Governor's order means that schools will be closed for six weeks, unless the closure is extended or lifted. 4J schools and offices are closed to the public and staff are working remotely.
The district has been preparing for the possibility of a prolonged closure, and is able to offer key supports to help ease the impacts on families. The district will keep a school-based health center open after spring break, and will continue to offer free grab-and-go meals through spring break and beyond.
District instruction teams are working to develop plans to enable our 4J teachers to provide supplemental education to all students equitably and accessibly. In the meantime, in the coming days we will share with families some optional learning resources and supports that are available at no cost.
