Three full-day ‘Adapting to Climate Change – Introduction’ training events will be held in Inverness, Glasgow and Edinburgh in March. The events are free and open to public sector practitioners who are new to climate change adaptation.

5 steps to managing your climate risks
Our new “Five steps” resource is a practical guide to managing climate risks for public bodies. It has been developed by Adaptation Scotland in collaboration with public bodies from across Scotland.  It builds on the first edition of the public sector workbook from 2011, taking into account legislative changes and recent adaptation planning successes in Scotland.

Glasgow wins Rockefeller resilience challenge
Glasgow has been named as one of just 5 European cities to receive support from the Rockefeller Foundation as part of their 100 Resilient Cities Centennial Challenge. One of the foundations for the bid was the work Sniffer and Adaptation Scotland have done on the Climate Ready Clyde project.

The Scottish Parliament recently debated the draft Scottish Climate Change Adaptation Programme (SCCAP) which was out for consultation until the Autumn of last year. Adaptation Scotland's work was highlighted by the Minister in his speech.

How to audit green infrastructure
The Victoria Business Improvement District in London started work in 2010 to install more
green space in a part of London largely characterised by hard surfaces, and to tackle surface water flooding. Their experience from the process has now been made into a best practice guide for auditing green infrastructure.

A new report looks at the options for infrastructure in Britain in relation to reliability and security. The ITRC report also looks at how the options might be put together into a long term national infrastructure strategy.

Climate change high on the agenda at World Economic Forum
Climate change took center stage at this year's World Economic Forum in Davos. In WEF's Global Risk Report, extreme weather events are viewed as the second biggest threat to societies.

Climate change is already causing mass migration
A new study from the journal Nature Climate Change has found that high temperatures, particularly during the spring and winter farming season, were the dominant driver of mass migration in Pakistan. It has not suddenly become too hot for people to live in certain areas but as temperature and weather patterns change, previously productive ground may become uneconomical to work.
