A Note from the Director

Lights are going up. Christmas songs are on the radio. Santa has arrived at the mall. December is here along with all the preparations for Christmas that are soon to arrive. This month in preschool we will continue to have a wonderful time sharing and learning together.

This time of year is often very busy with parties, presents, and dreams of visits from Santa Claus. We will make an effort here at preschool to help the children understand the real meaning of Christmas. We will share the Christmas story with the children and help them to see how special and precious the little baby born in a manger is for the world.

I invite all of you to attend the 4-year-olds Christmas Program on Tuesday, December 4th at 6:30pm. They will present a short telling of the Christmas Story through song and actions. It will be followed by a short reception. Come and celebrate the birth of Christ as the 4-year-olds lead our celebration.

December is a busy month! We will have many activities planned in each class throughout the month. All classes will be invited to chapel the last full week of school to have a birthday party for Jesus! Look for your child’s ornaments on the preschool Christmas tree in the lobby. They have worked hard to decorate for all to enjoy.

I want to stop and take a moment to wish each of you a safe and Merry Christmas with your family and friends. I invite you to celebrate the season with us in worship here at Good Shepherd.

Merry Christmas and we’ll see you in 2019!

Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord. Luke 2:11

Christmas is coming! At preschool, in classes and in chapel, we will have an opportunity to talk about the general spirit of giving we celebrate at Christmas, and also the Christian story of God's gift of love in the birth of Christ. We will even sing "Happy Birthday" to Jesus at our last December chapel. I hope you and your family enjoy an extra measure of joy as we all yearn for peace on Earth. ~Robert
You are invited to join us as the four-year-old classes present To Bethlehem! on Tuesday, December 4th at 6:30pm. This short program to tell of Jesus' birth in a manger will be followed by a birthday reception. All ages are welcome to celebrate the season with us.

Are you cleaning out as the holidays and the end of the year approaches? There are some items that we could use in our classrooms that may be stuffed in a closet at your house. Check out this list and see if you can help.
Dress-up clothes (especially need boy related clothes like daddy dress shirts, sport coats, ties)
Old costumes
Purses, hats, costume jewelry (bracelets, necklaces, clip-on earrings)
Uniform-type clothing (i.e. shirts with business names, hats, aprons, etc.)
Unused/old stationary (cards, paper, envelopes, notepads, etc) Stickers for the writing table (they make great stamps when you are "mailing" a letter to your friend's cubby)

We are also happy to take donated toys and books in good condition. If you have other items you wonder about donating to us, just ask Melissa. ;)

Thank you in advance for helping us provide some new material in our classrooms.
