READ A BOOK - ADOPT A PENGUIN

To celebrate the publication of Andrey Kurkov’s beloved Russian crime-fiction series starring a penguin named Misha, Melville House is creating a new Adopt-a-Penguin program.

From now until December 31st we'll adopt an emperor penguin in the name of any bookstore in North America that sells 25 copies of Death and the Penguin and/or Penguin Lost by Andrey Kurkov. You can help save a penguin and support your local bookstore all while enjoying a great book!

As a reader all you need to do is head down to your local bookseller and pick up a copy of either book. If your local bookstore hasn't heard about the promotion then point them to the Penguin Lost site.

If we can adopt a penguin for every independent and chain bookstore in the US and Canada more than 5 thousand penguins will get the gift of fresh fish, clean water and a protected, safe environment.

If you prefer ebooks and still want to participate then CLICK HERE.

Death and the Penguin

“The deadpan tone works perfectly, and it will be a hard-hearted reader who is not touched by Viktor’s relationship with his unusual pet.”
The Times

"I loved the f*ck out of it."
Paul Constant, The Stranger

Penguin Lost

“A striking portrait of post-Soviet isolation.... In this bleak moral landscape Kurkov manages to find ample refuge for his dark humor.”
The New York Times

“Delicious... when Viktor finally finds Misha it is as if Woody Allen had gone to meet Kurtz.”
The Spectator
