NEWS & UPDATES
Dac 2013/Jan 2014
Thank you for being part of Year 3 of The Amazing Maasai Ultra. As 2013 comes to a close, we are happy to report a number of exciting updates for you. Read on for news on race photos, fundraising results & our 2014 race...
Many of you have asked about photos of Race Day. Thank you for holding tight! An album of awesome action snapshots taken by dedicated photography duo, Virginia Lo & Paul Ark, can now be found on our Facebook page. High resolution jpeg copies (with no watermark) are available for purchase, with all proceeds going towards The Amazing Maasai Girls Project. In a couple of months we'll have this year's photography book ready to order, but for now we appreciate your support in choosing a picture or two; all these extra donations go a long way to funding another talented girl through high-school in the locale of the race. Prices and order information can be found on the Facebook album here.
So far, it looks like more than $33,500 has been raised through donations and proceeds from the race this year. This is a fantastic result. HUGE THANKS to everyone who got involved in an amazing team effort!! We are still welcoming online donations for 2013, so will hold-off announcing the final 2013 total for now. Updates to be shared as we progress through the scholarship selection process for our 2014 intake of girls!
AMAZING MAASAI MARATHON 2014
We are delighted to announce that Year 4 of the Amazing Maasai Marathon will be organised by DrumBeat, the team behind the Nairobi Marathon, along with our fantastic, dedicated local team out in Laikipia. Meanwhile, our 6-night package for international guests will be run by Boston-based experts, Marathon Tours. Of course, the race will continue in the very same spirit as previous years: a colourful community-based fundraiser for the Amazing Maasai Girls Project, and a unique challenge for runners of all standards!
Itinerary & package details will be available in early January, but for now please save the date: Saturday, August 30th 2014. We look forward to seeing you there!
Lastly, we would like to express thanks to our sponsors and friends. Without the support and generosity of Paul Ark, Ceva Logistics/Air Connection, Ol Lentille, there would have been no race and no new scholarships this year. We are incredibly grateful to everyone who got involved, and look forward to starting a new chapter of the race with you next year.
