World Mental Health Day

EPA supports WFMH initiative on 10 October

October 10 is World Mental Health Day, an annual awareness event initiated by the World Federation for Mental Health (WFMH) in 1992. This year, the theme is based on "Dignity in Mental Health - Psychological & Mental Health First Aid for All".

Through this initiative, the WFMH aims to increase the understanding of mental illness, address the stigma associated with it, and provide the general public with the skills to administer mental health first aid when necessary.

Please visit the WFMH website for more information about the WFMH and this year’s initiative.

WHO campaign for mental health

"Depression: Let's Talk" launches 10 October

Today, on the occasion of World Mental Health Day, EPA is pleased to support the World Health Organization (WHO) as it launches a new one-year campaign, "Depression: Let's Talk". The goal of the campaign is that more people with depression, in all countries of the world, seek and get help.

Working together with partners during the course of the next 12 months, WHO will, through easy-to-read handouts, visuals and activities, both on- and off-line, seek to improve understanding of depression, its causes, symptoms and possible consequences, and how it can be prevented and treated.

A highlight of the campaign will be World Health Day on 7 April, which in 2017 will focus on depression.
