Together for Mental Health: Challenges and Opportunities


The 3rd annual EPA Forum will take place at the 25th European Congress of Psychiatry on Saturday 1 April 2017 in Florence, Italy. The programme will center around the theme, "Together for Mental Health: Challenges and Opportunities", focusing on identifying and bridging the gaps in the organisation of mental health services across Europe.

Memorandum of Understanding

EPA and GAMIAN to collaborate for common goals

On the occasion of the EPA Policy Event on 9 December, EPA President Wolfgang Gaebel and GAMIAN-Europe President Hilkka Kärkkäinen signed a Memorandum of Understanding.

The agreement serves to formalise and reinforce collaboration, allow for an exchange of research and facilitate the organisation of activities between EPA and GAMIAN-Europe

Gaining Experience Programme

Congratulations to all selected participants

EPA is pleased to announce the 5 highly motivated early career psychiatrists selected for participation in our Gaining Experience Programme, whose placements will begin in 2017:

News from Brussels



EPA Policy Event a Success

 
The European Psychiatric Association would like to express a sincere thank you to all who contributed to making our 1st Policy Event in Brussels a success.
 
The event, which took place on 9 December 2016 at the University Foundation in Brussels, was well attended and focused on two main topics that are high on the EU agenda, namely the issues of integrated health care and mental health in the workplace.
 
High-level representatives from European Institutions, (mental) health professionals, academics, patients and civil society had constructive discussions on possible solutions for better health and health care in Europe. In addition to EPA leaders, Keynote speakers included:
  • Martin Seychell, Deputy Director General of the EU Commission Directorate General on Health and Food Safety;
  • Hilkka Kärkkäinen, President of GAMIAN-Europe;
  • Patrice Boyer, Vice President of the European Brain Council;
  • David McDaid, Expert on Health Policy and Health Economics at the London School of Economics;
  • Jorge Costa-David, Policy Officer in the Health and Safety Unit of the EU Commission Directorate General for Employment, Social Affairs and Inclusion.
