We are pleased to announce that the 4 new guidance papers, released in European Psychiatry in February 2014, are now available on the EPA website.

Clinical practice guidelines are important tools which aim to improve the quality of Mental Health Care in Europe.

Watch 4 mPIVAS Webcasts

The European Psychiatric Association is one of the partners of the mPIVAS project (mHealth psychoeducational intervention versus antipsychotic included side effects). It aims at improving the monitoring of side effects of antipsychotic medication in clinical practice.

In order to facilitate this process, a mobile application (PsyLOG) is being developed.

Two mPIVAS psychoeducational courses were organised at EPA Munich 2014. The sessions were filmed and 4 webcasts are now available on the EPA website. View them now.
The EPA Board congratulates our two scholarship winners

On 21-23 March 2014, the 2nd edition of the School on Psychopathology, organised by the EPA Early Career Psychiatrists Committee and the EPA Section on Philosophy and Psychiatry, took place in Florence (Italy). Twenty-three early career psychiatrists from several European countries participated in the School.

EPA awarded two scholarships of 1 000€ each to the two school participants with the best essays on the topic “Excellence in psychiatry, how to teach and be trained in psychopathology?”

Congratulations to the Scholarship winners: Suzana Jonovska (Croatia) and Antonios Liolios (Switzerland)!
News from EPA's Ethics Committee

The EPA has actively contributed to the Council of Europe’s ongoing work on a draft Additional Protocol to the Convention on Human Rights and Biomedicine, concerning the protection of the human rights and dignity of persons with mental disorders with regard to involuntary placement and involuntary treatment.

The EPA Ethics Committee provided its comments on the key issues to be addressed in the Additional Protocol and a Committee member, Dr. Cécile Hanon, participated in a hearing on 11 March 2014 at the Council of Europe’s premises in Paris.
