EPA participation in EU conference on Chronic Diseases, 21 April, Brussels

On 21 April, EPA, represented by its President Prof. Wolfgang Gaebel, participated in the high-level conference "Towards better prevention and management of chronic diseases", organised by the European Commission in Brussels. Prof. Gaebel addressed chronic diseases from the mental health and psychiatric perspective.

The purpose of the meeting was to set out an approach towards better prevention and management of chronic diseases at EU level, in order to reduce the burden of chronic diseases, improving health outcomes and reinforce the stability of health systems.

Participants included representatives of Member States, international organisations, civil society and patient organisations, as well as representatives of the medical and social sector, insurance and social security systems.
