SEC'S NEWS


Cheltenham Sparks has a new meeting place: The Lansdown on Lansdown Road, Cheltenham.

The District Secretary's notices will appear here and on the District Website which now also includes the District Diary.

UP AND RUNNING

 
The 2012 Run for the Future organised by the Bristol Clubs to raise funds for Prostate Cancer was recently launched.

This year's event will be held on 16 September.

 BATON PASSED!


 

A great time was had at the District handover at The Feathers Hotel, Ledbury.

An added bonus was that guests could hold an actual Olympic Torch – for a price.  £105 was collected for The Rotary Foundation.

A SPEAKER?

 

Facing Africa - Noma provides funds to allow volunteer surgeons from Europe to go to Nigeria and Ethiopia to perform facial reconstruction surgery on the victims of the disease noma. Also provide equipment for hospitals.

Contact Alan Martin if your Club would like a speaker.

HAVE YOUR SAY

Zone meetings have started. 

They aim to give club members the opportunity of hearing short District presentations, discuss current topics and share best practice and ideas plus enjoy Rotary fellowship.

There is always something new to learn about Rotary and they are a great way to keep in touch with neighbouring Clubs.

 

DISTRICT CONFERENCE
 
Conference this year will return to Torquay between 1 - 3 March.

Jane Walker of the Philippine Community Fund has agreed to speak about their work saving the children of the country's dumps.
