ROTARY DISTRICT 1100
eNEWSLETTER
April is Magazine month.

When was the last time that your Club critically reviewed yours?

Why not have a look at the winners of the District competition which will be announced at Conference?

SEC'S SPOT

District Secretary's notices appear here, and like the District Diary, are on the District Website

The first ever District Website competition was won by Stonehouse. Well done to them. Why not visit their site to get ideas on how to improve your Clubs?

Don't forget District Assembly is 28 April at The Chase Hotel, Brockworth. A great opportunity to find out what is going on for 2012 / 13 and to share ideas and best practice with other Clubs.

NEW MEMBERS

Morwenna Morwenna Newcombe has joined Gloucester and Richard Nokes Worcester Wychavon.

Royal Wootton Bassett
recently inducted Allison Bicknell.

Grant Simmonds and Victoria Merritt have become members of Worcester Vigornia.

Great to be able to welcome them all to the Family of Rotary.

Please tell us about your new members and  Sue Fitzjohn what your Club is doing to recruit members.

GSE TEAM FLY IN

The Group Stidy Exchange Team from Sri Lanka has arrived spending ther first few days in and around Evesham.
They have now moved on to be hosted by the Swindon Clubs in Zone 5.
Do take the opportunity to meet them. Full programme is on the District Website.

Many Rotarians will remember Mery from the Brazilian team who visited a couple of years ago. In January Mery married Andrew Bowen to whom she was introduced to when attending church whilst being hosted by Bredon Hill.  Great news and we wish them both well.

FESTIVAL OF ROTARY

Michael Dilger of The One Show will open the ever expanding Festival.

During the day we will be visited by Jemma Cooper - BBC West weather girl who will be plugging the event in her forecasts in the week before.

See the event's excellent website www.festivalofrotary.com and Facebook page to find out more.

Most members of the recent Rotary Friendship Exchange team have returned from New Zealand after an exciting and thoroughly enjoyable tour of the North Island. Some have remained to tour New Zealand’s South Island.

Hosted by Rotarians in five localities including volcanic Rotorua and Art Deco Napier, the team visited Rotary Clubs and gave presentations bringing greetings from DG Martin and all D1100 Rotarians.

The team was able to visit many places of interest during the two week tour, both on and off the tourist trail - all generously arranged by Rotarians in D9930.

Members from D9930 New Zealand will be visiting us in May next year.

For information about future Rotary Friendship Exchange visits, contact Alan Martin.

BOWLED OVER!

The semi finals of both District Skittles competitions are now underway.  Must be played by 20 April.

The finals will be played on 4 May 2012 at the British Legion Club, Slimbridge.

BIRDS EYE VIEW OF eClub

Saturday 19 May will see the chartering of our District's unique eClub.

Tim Mason and other Club members have organised a very different day long event at the wonderful Wildfowl and Wetland Trust at Slimbridge.

Something going on for all the family at a very reasonable cost.

Contact Tim for more information or to book places.

Your Green Future in Bristol 13/14 March was a great success.

More than 400 school pupils attended. The feedback was very positive so a similar event is already being  provisionally arranged for next March.
Please note that the latest date for copy for the next District eNewsletter is 11 April. Send your contributions to the District PR & Communications Team.  www.rotary1100.org
