Which one will your Club start?

No Rotaract Club in this District, only a handful of Rotakids and Interact Clubs
A wonderful opportunity to make a difference!

All are, "We're for Communities" projects

There is a whole world of opportunity to start clubs in this District such as Rotaract, Rotakids and Interact.
The RIBI Directory lists these clubs for Rotakids: St Peter's Primary School, Portishead Primary School and Trinity Anglican Methodist Primary School all in Portishead. there appears to be no others. For Interact listed are the following Chipping Camden, The Cotswold School Bourton on the Water, The Hereford Academy, Newent, Pershore and Uplands. The last one is in a school for pupils with special needs set up by the District 1100 eClub.
This leaves the field wide open to start many clubs in our District. It is also a fantastic opportunity for your club to raise the profile of Rotary locally.
Our biggest requirement however is to start a Rotaract Club somewhere in the District. A Rotaract Club is a good feeder for a Rotary Club as the years progress. The eClub in District 1100 work hard with Rotaract, Tim Mason the secretary commented," The Rotaract Hub (Click 4 Action eRotary) really helped to raise the profile with its Photographic competition for Peace Day. Currently the page has over 500 Likes and has reached over 7,000 people."

World Polio Day
Thursday 24th October 2013

A celebration of what has been achieved so far and a look forward at what still has to be done. India celebrates it's second year without a reported case of polio. However, Afghanistan, Nigeria and Pakistan, the endemic countries, are still reporting cases whilst the virus has been imported into countries like Somalia and Israel.

"Rotary continues to be the heart and soul of polio eradication" Bill Gates, Co Chair, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.

...." Failure to eradicate polio is unforgivable forever." Margaret Chan, Director General World Health Organisation.

" Polio anywhere in the world is a risk everywhere in the world." Thomas Frieden, director, US Centre for Disease Control.

Where has DG Jan been these last 2 weeks?

I can't believe it is two weeks since I last wrote my journal for our District 1100 eNewsletter. The time is flying by and I will soon be a quarter through my year.

I have now visited 40 clubs out of our 69 and finding each one as interesting as the last. All our clubs are unique and this is what makes them all so special from the smallest to the largest.

It has been a very busy couple of weeks, in the first week on Sunday I took part in the Bristol Run for the future which was great fun, I was number 499.  I visited Malvern Club, Evesham, Bristol Breakfast, Royal Wooton Bassett for the launch of their calendar, Swindon Phoenix and Cheltenham North.
Thank you to everyone for making my visits such a pleasure and thank you for all the wonderful work that you do. It is an honour to be your DG.

Fellowship is an integral part of Rotary

There are literally hundreds to choose from and from time to time we will feature a fellowship. Because the President was so helpful we are featuring the Rotary Singles Fellowship. Here is some of what Tris Tristam had to say, " Networking with fellow Rotarian Singles is a delightful way to share ideas, make travel easier and more economical by sharing room expenses, provide support for Rotary service activities, make lasting friendships and practice the ideals of Rotary. It is estimated that some 10-20% of Rotarians are single."

There is more information on the District Website under Fellowships or go to

New Members are the Lifeblood of your Club

Keeping present members ensure a clubs stability and continuity.. this happening within your Club? Or are new members coming in the front door and present members slipping out the back. Rotary is about "Service above Self" and engaging in service together as a whole club. Everyone should enjoy the service and fellowship.

Worcester Vigornia: Melanie Baker, Diana Street and Edward Marshall

We welcome all new members into Rotary. We know your fellow Club members will make you welcome and all members will be retained.
