$1,020,000

From two worldwide events to help "End Polio Now"
and even more good news.

All done with Social Media

well not quite. The sum of over $1,000,000 was raised as a result of the World Rotary Swimathon and The World's Greatest Meal. Both of these events were promoted worldwide using social media with the blessing of RI and RIBI. On Thursday a figure was achieved when if we match it with the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation contribution takes the amount well over $1million. Thank you to all who have participated so far.
On Thursday March 27 India was declared polio free along with 10 more countries. Nigeria is well on the way so also is Afghanistan but Pakistan still faces a few challenges.
It will be a fantastic achievement when, along with the other agencies in the polio campaign we can declare the world polio free. We are still aiming for 2018. It can be done with your help and tenacity to stay the course. Thank you.

Busy, busy, busy as Jan dashes here there and everywhere.

Another two week of this Rotary year has passed and what a busy couple of weeks it has been. I thought things would slow down after conference, how wrong can you be, but I wouldn’t have it any other way. John and I are still thoroughly enjoying attending as many as we possibly can of the events, youth competitions, concerts and charter nights going on in this busy District.
John and I had the pleasure of attending the regional final of the Young Chef Competition in Stoke on Trent, it was a great morning, the standard was so high, and it was made even better by the fact that the 1st Prize was won by Roxanne Ryan who was sponsored by Cirencester and the 2nd Prize went to Lauren Whitestone sponsored by Nailsworth.
The plans for the Festival of Rotary are coming along now so please put  Saturday May the 3rd in your diary and join us in the Guildhall, Worcester between 10 30 and 4pm. It will be a really good day with clubs coming together to show what they do, raising the awareness of Rotary. Tea, coffee, cakes etc will be available.
Don’t forget District Council is on Tuesday 8th April at the Holiday Inn, Barnwood, Glos – free tea and coffee will be available. I will look forward to seeing you then if not before.
