SEC'S NEWS

It is with regret that we note the passing of Bill Jackson of Stonehouse. Bill was instrumental in the starting of Kids Out in the District and was for many years involved with the Glos day.

The deadline for the very important RIBI Demographic Survey has been extended to 10 Feb. Please make sure that your Club has taken part..

A place is still available for this year's Rotary Youth Leadership Awards course. Contact Andy Jarrett if your Club is interested.

Did you know that it now only takes 20 members to charter a new Club?

NEW MEMBERS

Robert Henderson has joined Cheltenham North and  Lance Allen Portishead.

Richard Willaims is now a member of Ross on Wye and Craig Payne Royal Forest of Dean.

Severn Vale
welcomed Maree Stephens.

Brilliant that they are all now fellow Rotarians.

Please tell us and Sue Fitzjohn about your new members. We can then share your good news with others and help to spread what works!

Want to make new international Rotary friends?

The Rotary Friendship Exchange is a scheme by which Districts exchange five couples for up to two weeks.

Our District currently has a team who are in Bophal in India.

Alan Martin is now looking for couples who may want to be part of an exchange in New South Wales, Australia immediately ahead of the RI Convention in Sydney in June 2014.

PHOTO SUCCESS!

This excellent picture was taken by Joyce who is aged 14 and entered via Marlborough in the District Young Photographer competition.

It won the Intermediate section where the subject was peace.

Joyce wrote “I used this picture to represent peace because it’s a place that means a lot to me, as I spent most of my childhood there. I wanted to also show that it’s a pathway into my past .”

AROUND OUR CLUBS

The recent snow didn't deter members of Dursley recently supporting a very successful collection for Macmillan Cancer Support.

Bristol Breakfast are holding a Literary Lunch on 22 Feb.

Interact in Hereford is going from strength to strength.

 2013 / 14 LEADERS

On 23 April there is a chance to meet the incoming RI President Ron Burton and RIBI President Nan McCreadie and senior Rotary leaders.

If you can't be there in person, then why not join in with the live webcast?

Great chance to find out about their views of Rotary and put your ideas to them.

MEET THE TEAM!

The Group Study Exchange team from District 7730 in South Eastern North Carolina will arrive on 9 Feb.

Their programme is here.

It would be great to see many Clubs from our District at the Farewell Dinner on 9 March in Berkeley.  Tickets available via Jill Johnston.
