It's going to be a great year!
The New Year is here and it will be a great one.

Members across the world are now gearing up for the new Rotary Year but we still have 6 exciting months of service and fellowship to go.

The Rotary International Assembly is happening in San Diego

and all the marketing people amongst us get ready for the new Presidential theme. With Social Media it gets out into the wider world immediately it is unveiled. After RI Assembly follows RIBI Assembly in Birmingham towards the end of February. We have our own District Assembly on Saturday 24th April closely followed by your own Club Assembly where it is hoped the Presidential theme is passed in full meaning to all the grass root members.
All of this happens in the build up to July.

Whilst all of this goes on we continue with the Rotary year. What's coming up?
District Council on 20th January where the emphasis will be on Club Membership, District Conference in March and the RIBI Conference in April. Whilst all of this is happening your Clubs will be holding their own events as well.
It's going to be busy and fun at the same time. Enjoy your Rotary year.

What's happening in the District?

I hope you have all had a lovely Christmas and wish you and your families all the best for the New Year.

As we look forward in the year here are a couple of reminders.

Monday 20th January  we have our second District Council Meeting .
At 6 30 pm there will be a New Members Meeting, to which new members and their sponsors are invited along with Club Membership chairs.  District Membership chair Tony Horn will say a few words as will PDG and RIBI membership committee chairman David Houghton. We will ask a couple of new members to tell us why they joined Rotary

At 7 15 pm the Business Meeting will begin, and we have RIBI Community Committee Chairman PDG  Mukesh Malhotra coming to talk to us. PDG Stewart Gilbert will provide an update  on the Council of Legislation. PDG David Houghton will give us short review on District restructuring.  Of course we need to ratify the election of officers too. There may also be a couple of members telling why they joined Rotary and the difference that women have made to their clubs.

District Conference will be taking place from March 7th till 9th.  Thank you to everyone who has registered so far.  A reminder to those that haven't yet done so, please download the registration form, there is a link on this Newsletter and send it as soon as you can to Oliver Lister ojul25@btinternet.com.

I will close by my best wishes for the New Year to you, your families and your Clubs.

People and Clubs are really flowing in to sign up for this event. It's really going big and almost 50 Clubs are signed up for it within just a few days. Clubs will once again be meeting in the New Year and we await a flood of new commitments.
We have Posters, Press Releases and a clear fresh logo. Please join this big event. We remind you that every £1 raised or donated to End Polio Now will attract a match by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation of £2. So your £1 becomes £3.
All to eradicate what is one of the world's most terrible diseases. We have some way to go but we must finish the job.
If we have no cases of polio reported in India by 14th January we can declare polio to be eradicated from that country. A cause for celebration!

By now, if you are a Guardian reader you would have seen the Ad from RIBI in 4th January Edition headed "NewYear New Start".  We know from past experience it will generate a lot of enquiries through the RIBI Website. Please handle these enquiries speedily since they are the new life blood of our organisation.

If you have new members please let the Editor know by E-Mailing we wish to share your success.

International Caravanning Fellowship of Rotarians. (ICFR).

The Rally Programme that we prepare each year provides an ideal environment for meeting and mixing with other members.   These rallies are organised by our members, who have good local knowledge of the area.
An overview of our programme can be found on our website - http://www.rotarianscaravanning.org.uk/    along with links to find more background on the original formation of the fellowship, and a link to a  Join Us page.

Or contact Derek Rogers of Stonehouse Club one of the movers and shakers, not literally, of the caravan fellowship.

January is Rotary Awareness Month
What will you or your Club be doing to raise awareness of Rotary?
How much coverage has your Club achieved for your events in the local Press?
What is happening to change the perception of the image of Rotary?
Did you see the Advertisement in the Guardian dated 4th January?
The change in the branding is but a start to improve the image of Rotary and tell the world what we actually do and this month is the chance to concentrate on that.
Let us know what is  happening and we can share in all the successes.
