They pleaded for your help.
As ever Rotary responded like never before.

All over District 1100 and across the world Rotarians were out collecting, running events and doing anything that it takes to bring  attention to the plight of the Philippines and to help.

It seems by far the biggest recipient of your donations is ShelterBox. A ShelterBox Response Team member comments...

'As I reflect upon my past deployment experiences to major disasters both in the Philippines and elsewhere, it’s hard to think of a more productive partnership than that of Rotary International and ShelterBox. Time and time again, Rotary has been there to help, and this recent calamity is no different...' Read more from Bill Decker, past president of the Rotary Club of Philadelphia, chair of the ShelterBox USA Board, and a ShelterBox Response Team member, who recently deployed to the Philippines, http://blog.rotary.org/2013/11/27/philippines/
All the box charities are receiving requests and responding to help as is Roll Out the Barrel. They have had a request for 200 roll along water barrels at £30 each landed. Please make donations through their website www.rotb.co.uk.
If you and your club wish to see how the recovery plan develops we have the District 1100 Philippines disaster Fund and RIBI have the Donations Trust to send donations to. Thank you for helping going into supermarkets and out on the street shaking buckets. It is Rotary at it's best and trying to make a difference.

Please let us know how much you collect since we are putting all the amounts together as Rotary within RIBI.

Helping people to a better Christmas!

The Trussel Trust got  the co-operation of Tesco Strores across the country to collect food for their Foodbanks. Many Rotary Clubs collect food (non - perishable) for the Food Banks and will be helping over the weekend.. There is sometimes a misconception that Foodbanks are a "soft touch" no way. Everyone who goes to a Foodbank must be referred by say a GP, Benefits Agency, Job Centre to name a few, before they can get any kind of help. Please also remember that Tesco have very kindly offered to donate vouchers to one third of that amount collected.

For those of you and your clubs who have already helped with collections thank you. Please get in touch and let us know how many trolleys you filled. From reports around the country people were being very generous.

Around the District with the DG

RiBI President visit and the President Elect Social all in the 2 weeks for a District Governor

Another two weeks gone already along with 5 months of my DG year – where does all the time go.
It has been an amazing couple of weeks with more club visits to the District E Club,  Keysham Chew Valley and Worcester Wychavon, all very different and all doing great things for our communities. Thank you for making me so welcome at your meetings. I have only 3 more official visits to do now, it has been great getting around the district and meeting so many of our members. Thank you again to you all.
DG Stephen Lay of D1290 has asked us to help raise funds for Foundation by downloading this song "Christmas Time, Children Sing"  www.childrensing.info . On this site there is also a backing video showing children from around the world singing, and some examples of Rotary at work. Downloads of the single cost £0.79p with £0.34p going to The Rotary Foundation. Click on www.childrensing.info to watch the video.
The song is being launched on the 2nd December and we can help by downloading is ourselves and promoting  it through social media.

This eNewsletter comes as an example of trying to improve communications within the District. District Officers are here to help and support clubs in whatever way is required. The Newsletter is only as good as the contributions we get from Clubs and members. If you have news within your club you think is of sufficient interest to other clubs and members then please send it to the editor.

Christmas Sleigh pictures will always be welcome

This marketing campaign is a great success and moves into a second phase.

Since the beginning of the Rotary year we have changed the enquiry form to make it easier for prospective new members to enquire of us. We have also introduced strip/banner Ads like the one shown which will appear on videos advertising for certain companies. the one shown above will be used on Sky.
From July this district has had 34 enquiries referred through the marketing campaign and it would be interesting to hear what has become of them.
If your Club has inducted new members then please let us know so we can celebrate with you.
By Clubs showing the results of "We're for Communties" within their own community they will undoubtedly recruit new members.
It is over to you for action.
An amazing tool to help clubs
Have you looked at this valuable and helpful tool on the new Ri website?

When you log in it will give you an analysis of your own Club in terms of membership, new members retention and measurements against your club goals set by your President. There is a set of tools showing the Service of your club and also a set showing Foundation giving and involvement. You can also check to see how your club is performing within the District and then globally.
If used constructively it could be a great asset to clubs.
Since it is on the secure part of the RI site we can't give you a URL to click. However if you log into the RI site and go to your own page on the left hand side towards the bottom you will see " Rotary Club Central" please click on that and it will take you to the relevant pages.
Let us know how you get on.

Club Bulletin/Newsletter Competition

We hold this competition each year and the winning club is announced at the District Conference. Last years winner was an on line version of a Club Newsletter. When reviewing the entrants we tend to look for original titles, style of Newsletter/Bulletin interest and content, pictures etc to get an overall flavour of the club activities. This year we will be looking for contributions concerning "We're for Communities" and the contributions within the community from each club and how it is used and publicised.
The closing date for entries either on line or in hard copy is Friday 14th February 2014. Please contact the editor for addresses to send your entry or give an 'On Line" URL by E-Mailing here.
