SEC'S NEWS


The District website has been refreshed for the new Rotary year. Why not have a look and add to your favourites?

Cheltenham Cleeve Vale has a new meeting place: Cheltenham Football Club, Whaddon Road, Cheltenham GL52 5NA.


Thornbury are currently looking for a new venue so please contact them if you are planning a visit.

Club Secretaries are reminded to arrange for the RIBI Protection Policy to be adopted.

Registrations are now open for the RI Convention which will be held next June in Lisbon.

Why not start the year as you mean to go on by working towards a RI Presidential Citation? 

The District Secretary's notices will appear here and on the District Website which now also includes the District Diary.

Mary Whittington has joined Bristol Breakfast and John Barratt Pershore.

Ross-on-Wye has welcomed Alex Hammon and John Vrig.

Anne Dubareaux Dois is now a member of Swindon North and Maggie Allen Worcester Vigornia.

Fantastic to start the new Rotary year with them as members.

OPPORTUNITIES FOR YOUNG PEOPLE

 
Just three places remain for the 2013 Rotary Youth Leadership Awards course. Contact Alan Martin.

Alan requires numbers for the end of RYLA 2012 presentation of certificates and pig roast by 21 July.

Bryan Bamber has opened entries for the very wide range of District Youth competitions.   These include cooking, public speaking, music, citizenship, writing and photography. Something for everyone! 

 IT'S "HELLO" FROM ME!

And "goodbye" from him, as Martin rides off into the sunset.  Thank you to Martin and his Team for an excellent year.
New ideas have been put into practice and changes made. Thank you Martin.

DISABLED SPORTS
 

These take place in Coventry with teams from Avon and Glos.  

This year we are short on funds and have appealed for top ups. Please help out with a contribution from your Club. £100 suggested 

DISTRICT COUNCIL MEETINGS
 
The changed format introduced last year seems to have worked well so will be broadly continued.

In future will be known as District Council Plus.

To be held on 15 Oct, 16 Jan and 12 Mch.

Please make sure that these dates are in your Club's calendar.

BOARD IN WORCESTER!

Worcester Club members and their friends marched through the centre of the city wearing sandwich boards.

Eighty businesses paid to have their companies advertised on more than 40 boards .

£3,000 was raised and lots of excellent media coverage generated.

What a super idea. Well done to them
.

YOUNG PEOPLE HOT UNDER THE COLLAR ABOUT CLIMATE CHANGE

Following on from the success of Your Green Future, the District Environment team are organising two conferences in December for young people to discuss climate change.

These aim to inspire the participants to take an active part in decision-making about their own global future.

Clubs are asked to help contribute to the costs and recruit schools.

This enewsletter has been sent directly to members of the 2012 / 13 District Team, Club Presidents and Secretaries.

We will continue to send it to Club Presidents and Secretaries from 2011 / 12 to help with handovers. 

Please forward it on to your Club members. Otherwise they will not get it.

Anyone can choose to receive it directly by subscribing.

Please tell the District Secretary if you find other things wrong or have any other updates.   

The new RIBI Directory is available on the RIBI website. 

Later in the year it will be possible to purchase a paper copy.
