I recently got back from a 10-day trip to Houston, San Diego, Los Angeles and just this past weekend, Wichita. First I sang at Unity of Houston with their incredible music team and 1200 seat sanctuary. I got to sing, "Make Them Hear You," a beautiful anthem from the musical, Ragtime. A couple days later, I traveled around the Houston area and heard about the horrific flooding that happened during Hurricane Harvey in Aug 2017. I was shocked to hear that some people are still recovering physically and emotionally to this event from 18 months ago. I was touched by their stories of courage and people coming to strangers' aid across the city in their time of need.
I flew to San Diego to visit my mom and we celebrated a milestone birthday for her by taking a hot air balloon ride! It was on her bucket list. Super memorable!
Then, I went to Los Angeles, my old tromping grounds, and after visiting with family and friends, got to visit a whole new spiritual community and sing for UP Church. UP Church was founded by Rev. Della Reese, who I grew up watching on "Touched by an Angel." There was some really amazing energy there and a fantastic music team!
Finally, this last weekend, Ben and I drove out to Wichita, Kansas, to speak and sing at a new to us community: Unity of Wichita. They were kind, welcoming, and generous! We are blessed to share our gifts to so many people across the country.
In just a couple weeks, Ben and I will be going on a cruise to the Caribbean with Unity at Sea-- a retreat/cruise that I've been coordinating with my job for over a year! More on that next month :)
In the meantime, check out my new podcast and video update (below) about my online class, "Make Peace with Your Religious Past." Thanks and enjoy!!
I have several really exciting performances currently in the booking stage, so I will announce those as soon as I can on my Facebook Music Page! Stay tuned!
I started a podcast!! At first I was really hesitant to call this interview series a podcast because I know they are a lot of work and require consistency, but I've had the idea for this for a couple years now and just decided to stop resisting it and dive in.
In each episode, I interview people with interesting religious backgrounds and spiritual journeys. My guests share their authentic stories from their religion of origin, not to blame or complain, but to heal, learn, and support others who want to make peace with their religious past. You can check out the first 2 episodes on Soundcloud here: https://soundcloud.com/makepeace-religiouspast
