GPex - Registrar Arrangements
A meeting between Practice Managers and GPex staff took place on 24th March to discuss how to improve communication and better help all parties understand the tasks that need to be completed for each Registrar placement. Feedback from many attending was positive and GPex have produced a series of recommendations for further consideration by those attending at a subsequent meeting to be arranged.
Our region is the only group to have had the opportunity to provide constructive input and learn more about the placement process thanks to our proactive approach to GPex. Summit Health would like to thank those Practice Managers that gave their time to this issue. For those who were not able to attend but are interested, we will publish further information on the outcomes etc. once we know more.

Mental Health/Drug & Alcohol Services
Under recent Federal Government changes, PHNs will have increased responsibility for frontline mental health and drug & alcohol services from 2016-17 onwards. Commencing 1 July 2016, this role will include the planning and commissioning of mental health and drug alcohol services, including Indigenous specific services.
Part of this work requires PHNs to undertake a mental health and drug & alcohol needs assessment and planning to provide evidence based regional plans for 2016-17 which will inform the commissioning of these services. In April, Country SA PHN will start running forums to inform the future direction of mental health and drug & alcohol treatment services throughout rural South Australia.
