Community Weed Pull Alert

Play Clean Go Love Your Trails Day

Saturday May 25
Davies St Park, Nelson BC 

 

Thanks for letting us know that you are keen to volunteer with CKISS. We hope you can join us for a community weed pull that is taking place as part of our Play Clean Go Love Your Trails event. We will be removing invasive scotch broom from the park using a cool tool called an Extragator from 10:30 - 12:30. Come get your hands dirty with us for as little or long as you can. 
 

Other Activities will include:

  • Bike maintenance/cleaning workshop with Gerick Cycle & Ski
  • Guided plant ID walk with CKISS
  • Community weed pull
  • Draw prizes
  • CKISS AGM and FREE picnic lunch

Invasive Plant Profile: Scotch Broom

  • Yellow pea-like flower sometime with a red marking in the middle
  • Grows 1m to 3m tall and has a green woody stem
  • Fire hazard
  • Obstructs driver views on roadsides
  • Takes over rangelands and plantations resulting in decreased crop yields and plantation failures
