Coronavirus in eSwatini!
As with almost everywhere else in the world, eSwatini has confirmed cases of the virus.  They have only identified 22 confirmed positive cases, but since there are cases that cannot be linked to international travel, it is assumed there is now community spread at least within Mbabane, Matsapha and Manzini. With the major lack of water, toilets, and soap to practice proper hygiene, we fear the numbers are going to grow rapidly.

The nurses are protesting due to the lack of PPE and many are refusing to see patients exhibiting symptoms of the virus leaving someone with asthma to die unattended recently.  Schools are cancelled, public transport is greatly limited, and there is a partial lockdown in place.

Our March and likely summer trips will be cancelled due to travel restrictions, as well as for the safety of our volunteers and Swazi children.  This is making our work challenging as we're relying on local Swazis to implement our programs during a time of lockdown and navigating shortages of food, masks, and building materials due to cancelled shipments from South Africa. But, with your help, we are pressing onward!
Covid-19 has caused trip cancellations to eSwatini and fundraising event cancellations in the US... but it hasn't cancelled our efforts to help the orphans!
Vote to Help us Win a Grant!
We've won a Super Service Challenge grant every year for many years.  And due to many other granters reallocating grant funds to coronavirus efforts (hospitals and healthcare systems), getting this grant now will help us even more than it did in the past!

It requires you to log in, watch a short video, and click VOTE NOW.  You can do so every day, but we'd even appreciate if you did so just once!

GoFundMe Matching Gifts!
Our fundraisers have been cancelled due to social distancing so we're relying solely on online donations now to sustain our programming.

One of our most urgent needs is rain catchment systems in Malindza Village at our child-headed homes.  These gutter/tank systems provide water for the children to wash their hands to protect them from the virus as well as irrigate their subsistence farms in order to protect them from the food scarcity that has ravaged eSwatini during the lockdown.

GoFundMe has a matching gift program right now that will make your gift go twice as far! To be eligible we need at least 10 unique donors donating at least $1,000 total.  I have already donated the first $100. Will you consider even donating $5 to help us reach our unique donor goal?
Mother's Day is approaching! Stay tuned for our next email which will include some gifts directly from eSwatini, Africa. You'll be able to order online and have it shipped directly to your mom, wife, grandma, or mom friend.  It will be a gift that will allow you to shop safely, and for a cause.
