Summer 2013 Programming
*NOTE: This will be our last GHFP eNewsletter until our team returns to the US in August.  Annie will be blogging if she can find internet access:

Primary School

The construction of the school has already begun!  The Malindza community has turned your donation dollars into 400+ bricks to build our first classroom.  They've also started the construction of the bathrooms this week.  The picture above shows a few of the children who will be attending in January.  They were eager to see the progress so they "helped" deliver the used tires which will be used as the base of our school playground.

GHFP is excited to be able to offer access to education to students living in the rural impoverish community of Malindza.  We are also excited to have hired a local builder who grew up as an orphan himself and has agreed to complete the project at a reduced price as his way to give back.  We are still in need of funding to complete the remaining classrooms if you'd like to contribute!

Children's Library & Computer Lab

We are eager to transform the empty room a eLangeni Primary School into a painted and colorful library!
Our service-learning teams will be implementing a reading program and partnering with Swazi teachers to ignite & fuel the students' love of books and reading.

In addition, the headmaster said that the children LOVE our GHFP Computer lab but that it is overcrowded and they need more computers.  Thanks to a recent generous donation from Franklin Energy Services and Paul & Jan Schueller - we will be adding 10 nearly new Dell laptops to our previously created eLangeni Primary School computer lab.

We are very grateful for everyone's support - we couldn't do this without you!
Education is the best way out of poverty and the number one way to reduce HIV transmission and give them the tools to help themselves.
