Making the fourth and longest walk in the Walk Victoria’s Icons series, the Grampians Peaks Trail will provide a world-class walking experience of 160kms that can be experienced in sections, or as one 13-day journey.
In walking the trail, we want you to experience the landscape and the majesty of the Grampians. In building the trail, we are using the environment to provide the path, and create experiences that will reward your effort – the reveal around a corner and the awe of the environment at the top of the mountain.
In order to protect the environment, boardwalks will be built to allow flora and fauna to continue to grow and provide animal corridors so they can continue their natural pathways.
We are continuing work on the priority sections – in the north from Roses Gap to Halls Gap and between Mount Abrupt and Dunkeld in the south, these sections that will be open to the public first. Whilst not open yet, we have cleared 88% in the north, and 57% in the south; and following closely with construction to ensure minimal environmental impact, built 42% in the north and 7% in the south.
Stage One is now open, with a three-day / two-night walk taking you through majestic landscapes such as the Pinnacle Lookout. You can book your first night campsite at Bugiga, then on day two, walk to Borough Huts campground which is set in a tranquil forest area next to Fyans Creek.
