Back to School...Online!
September 2020

Welcome back! We hope you all had a restful, refreshing summer, and that you and your loved ones are healthy. We know many of you probably returned to work earlier than normal to prepare for this unusual school year starting online. THANK YOU for all of the work you have done and continue to do to keep our communities updated as the school year has kicked off.

More so than ever, in this season of restrictions on face-to-face learning, our school websites and digital communication efforts will be key in helping our families stay connected and well-informed. So this issue is devoted to ways of doing just that! Some content is new and some content recaps emails we've already shared this school year.

Please reach out to us anytime. We are in the office and ready to support you however needed!

Fresh Content Focus Areas

Keeping content as fresh as possible in key areas of your website will help families find what they need during online learning.
1. Home Page Banners
Ensure slider banners are current, and remove any outdated information. Specifically, be sure to remove last year's COVID banners, and add the current Return to School 2020-21 banner (visuals below) pointing to the Return to School section of

Use file from email sent on 8/12/20 subject "School Website Updates Request (Please Review)"

2. School News
This is a great section to post recent, time-sensitive announcements, such as Technology/Textbook pick up info, School Meals details, virtual event updates, etc. Using icons helps draw attention to these announcements -- feel free to use the collection of images & icons we've gathered (link below). BONUS: Remember that these posts will automatically generate a push notification (within a few hours) to your school's followers on the CUSD app as well!

3. Bell Schedule
While we are all hopeful that on-site learning will resume soon, be sure that your Bell Schedule page is updated with your school's current Online Learning Schedule to avoid confusion.
4. Our Staff
If parents can't find their student's teacher's contact info in their own email, the first place they look for it will most likely be the school website! Be sure all staff listings and contact info are up-to-date, especially email addresses. (Check out the "How do I update my Staff Page?" tutorial below in the "Resources Reminder" section.)

Resources Reminder

Below are a few tutorials that answer some recent FAQs we've been hearing, so they might help you as well. We are always just an email or phone call away as well, but often times these Webmaster Training resources will answer your questions just as quickly!
