Hello Mr Mac Community!
This newsletter we delve into the very grey area of first world waste - specifically 'E-waste' and what might be done in the future to combat this growing issue.
First, have a look at this CNET article that talks about an initiative coming from Apple itself to attempt to deal with the recycling issue.
Second, have a look at this page from the Office of Environment & Heritage that suggests methods of dealing with e-waste.
A way to avoid creating more E-Waste RAM Upgrades
Your old machine becomes faster and more responsive. This can be done for older MacBook Pro's (up to 2012, non- retina) and iMacs. Note: this can't be easily done on Mac Airs or MacBook Pro's after 2012.
Hard Drive Upgrade
Your old slow computer will 'fly' with this simple upgrade. Available for older MacBook Pro's (2012 or prior) and these new solid state hard drives replace the old, rotational magnetic drive that is now 'old technology'. Your old HD can still be used as an external storage disk.
Mr Mac To discuss any potential upgrades to your devices, call Dave ('Mr Mac') on 0418 408 869 to check your options. There might be a great way to refurbish your old machine and avoid sending it to E-Waste or landfill!
