Brussels, Tuesday April 8, 2014 – The first edition of the Frontières International Co-Production Market in Brussels launches next week at the Brussels International Fantastic Film Festival (BIFFF). From April 10 to 12, 2014, American and European Directors, Producers, Sales Agents, Distributors and Production Services Providers will converge in the center of the Belgian capital.
Founded by the Fantasia International Film Festival in 2012, Frontières is the first and only co-production market to connect North America with Europe in an environment focused specifically on genre film production. Following two successful editions in Montreal, the market has now become a circuit in between Brussels, in April, and Montreal, in July, thanks to a generous support from the MEDIA Mundus program of the European Community.
The film project selection includes 12 Frontières projects, hailing from Canada, the United-States, France, Belgium, Netherlands, Ireland and Finland, as well as 10 Off-Frontières projects from Canada, Great-Britain, Spain, France, Belgium, Denmark, Sweden and Serbia.

For this first European edition, 220 participants will partake in the event’s activities. Amongst them, 75 participants are from Belgium and Benelux, 50 from France, 30 from Great-Britain and Ireland, 20 from Canada, 15 from the United-States and 10 from Scandinavia. From the registered companies, 115 participants are Producers, 30 are Directors, 30 are Institutions Representatives, 20 are Distributors and 20 are International Sales Agents.

The three days of activities at the Visit Brussels headquarters will be filled with many meetings, a pitch session and networking cocktails. Two introduction sessions will take place: Meet the Film Funds and Meet the Post-Production Companies – International Expertise and Creativity in Brussels. Three panels have been organised: The Financing of Genre Films in Europe – Presented by the EAVE network, The Packaging of American Genre Films and The Status of VOD in Europe. Additionally, the services of four experts in the fields of career development, production and film merchandising have been secured to offer free consultation sessions to participants.
The 4th edition of the Frontières International Co-Production Market will be back in Montreal at the Fantasia International Film Festival, from July 24 to 27, 2014. Film project submissions are now taking place and the submission deadline is April 19, 2014.
