Please join us at St. Andrew this Saturday, November 12th at 1:00 pm to give thanks for and celebrate the life of Ernie Scott. We will remember Mary Lena as well, as we give thanks for the lives of the saints among us.

Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord, says the Spirit.
They rest from their labors,
and their works follow them.

~Revelation 14:13

In response to our Christian calling and to reach out to our community, the Compassion, Justice & Peace (CJP) Team is working with Erika Parmelee, Family Liaison at Honey Dew Elementary School, to share our blessings with families in our community who are less fortunate. Erika will identify families at the school, and we will provide those families with a pre-paid gift card to purchase the fixings for a Thanksgiving dinner. We will deliver the gift cards to Erika prior to the Thanksgiving school break.
We invite you to consider your own blessings, and if you're able, make a donation for this project. We'll be collecting donations through the weekend before Thanksgiving. Designate your donation to “Holiday Support”. For additional information, contact Derona, Laurie or Sheila from the CJP team, or any of the pastors. Thanks for sharing!

Doofer's will be ready for us on Tuesday, November 15th at 5:30PM. Come, good friends, and join us for good conversation, good fun, and good food! Happy Hour prices are honored until 6 PM but  come whenever your schedule allows. Just look for our reserved tables in the dining section to the left when you enter this favorite watering hole!
When events around us are overwhelming and hard to understand we need to be together. We need communities of trust and truth-telling. We need each other to make it through, whether in joy or sorrow, happiness or despair. Join us Sunday after worship for Aftertalk. These gatherings are designed to offer safe conversational space to help us together make the link from worship to the world. Each week we add a page on the website with resources and links that may help you prepare for our conversation. Take a look on our website and join us on Sunday!
Do you ever wonder about what your time and energy results in? One way of seeing this is to get a snap shot of what our kids are up to. Every now and then we can get a glimpse of the difference we make as a community of faith and formation. Here's a recently published blog by Claire Anderson, from her experiences in the Montana wilderness with Wild Rockies Field Institute. See what the Spirit is doing through you, and remember your baptism!

Mad World

Have you ever walked into a place and been immediately taken aback by its overwhelming power? I’ve been fortunate enough in my life to have felt that often. These instances stand out clearly to me because of the uninhibited emotion they provoke so naturally.

My classmate, Shane, and I took a walk along the Yellowstone River after climbing out of the vans following our drive from White Sulphur Springs. We had just driven into a glowing golden valley with the Yellowstone River perfectly framing our campsite and it was all a bit overwhelming. At this particular moment I told Shane I was angry. She was confused, which is understandable because this place is unbelievably beautiful and instead of being in a classroom, I was galloping through Paradise Valley just a few hours after getting cinnamon rolls from some copper miners. I had no business being angry. After thinking about it I decided anger probably wasn’t the correct emotion, but I was feeling something strong for sure. I was angry (for lack of a better word) because this place is stupidly beautiful and there is no way my camera or my mind and memories will ever do it justice. I want this place to remain this unfairly beautiful, I want other places of the same caliber to retain their charm and stunning beauty and I want everyone to be able to see these places and feel this power I felt at that moment.

Mark your calendars for our major fund-raising event! Can you help by donating hand-crafted items or baked goods, containers of ingredients for cookies, soups, or other favorites? Proceeds from past bazaars have supported REACH Center of Hope, youth of St. Andrew, Luther’s Table, NPH, and Renton schools.  Please plan to help make this year’s Holiday Bazaar a success and share one or more of your special talents! Questions: Call Karen Mullen, 425-255-2580.
Join us next Sunday evening, November 20th at 6:30 PM for Advent decorating. We will transform the space as we do each year. Come help if you can, and for fun and fellowship!
