Drawing Marathon 2014
Another year has rolled around.  It’s always interesting to me to see the evolution of a thing. In this instance it’s the Drawing Marathon. Initially this was going to be a one year experiential program. Meant to simply be whatever it was on any given Studio Day. Yet here were are going into our third year and it is all thanks to those artists who open their studios and the artists who open themselves to this experiment.
I’m a bit late getting my act together but the following is the list for this coming year. If you wish to take part, please email me what date you can attend. I will then email your name to your studio Host. Barb Rehg
The following is your list of name, date and number of people who may take part at that studio.
Future hosts - 2014
Helen DeRamus - April 2 - 6 to 8 people
Maggie Davis - April 27th Sunday - 8 to 10 people.
Sycamore Place Gallery - Sylvia Cross - May 9 Friday - 8 to 10 people
Sally Eppstein - June 8 Sunday - 6 people
Kate Colpitts - Fall - 6 people
Barb Rehg - July - 6 people
Now the other part of this program…if you wish to participate, email me. Here are the particulars. I’m going to purchase 3” rolls of paper …the kind used for adding machines in year’s past…
You may draw on these with any type of material, any colors. You may weave, fold, spindle, mutilate etc…but it must be drawn upon and in the end be wall mountable. You are NOT required to be at one of the studio sessions…this may be done in your studio. You may collaborate, you may tape, you may glue, you will probably break all the rules.

We will meet at the Common Area of the studio complex. Heading east on College Ave. towards Avondale, turn left on Olive Street (at the Waffle House), then make the immediate right onto Franklin Street. The building is on your left. The studios are the third entrance, and the front door is painted turquoise, with black lettering and the address "2834". Donna will unlock the front door for us.
Bring: Your finished work or work in progress to share. Beverages will be provided. You may bring a snack to share.RSVP:  to Kathy Meliopoulos, or 404-325-0863 or  Donna Horn,, 404-291-4536so that we can have an idea of attendees.
This is especially important as Donna will need to have a rough idea of how many chairs to set up.****last art share we ran over a bit, which was fine with me, but sometimes people have to leave on time for other obligations so we will try hard to stick to our policy of giving each artist 10 minutes to speak and then we can talk more after each presenter has had a turn. The program, ArtShare, is a forum for members of WCAGA to show their work for the purpose of gaining feedback and insight, and to network with other artists and art professionals.  Guests and prospective members are welcome! We love to hear from you so please email if you would like to host an ArtShare, have a suggestion for a venue or format, or would like to be involved in hosting in some way to Kathy Meliopoulos,

READING Club Meeting
When:  Sunday, March 9, 3:30Please note - we are not meeting on Feb 23. It would be nice to choose at least three books going forward. I apologize for any inconvenience in the change. If you want to borrow my book,

Where: Vickie Martin's
3120 Mays Court Decatur, Ga.  30033vickiemartinarts@comcast.netRSVP (It’s helpful, but not essential.)
What: WCAGA Reading Group
It’s a very informal format.
We have art-related reading material and then meet to discuss what we read.
Everyone is welcome to come to the discussion meeting
(even if you don’t get time to read the material first.).
The reading material is a jumping off place for the discussion.

Bringing something tasty to nibble on or drink is always nice, but not required.

At this meeting we will decide what to read over the next three months to give everybody time to get the books in advance.
Bring topic suggestions.

Also let us know if you would like to offer your house or studio for a future Book Club gathering.
