The annual Shabbat Dinner, hosted by the AEJD, has been met with great enthusiasm over the past few years. The goals of this event are two fold. Firstly, the Shabbat dinner provides both Jews and non-Jews the opportunity to learn about Jewish life and traditions. Secondly, the dinner is an important networking event for both students and legal-practionners.  Guest speaker: The Honourable Michel M.J. Shore of the Federal Court

PhD in Plant-Microbe Interaction Research at Hebrew University!

 
A PhD position is available in the Minz group at the Hebrew University and the Volcani Research Institute in Israel. The Research Institute is located 7 miles from Tel Aviv, in the center of Israel.
 
The group focuses on Plant-Microbe interaction research especially of the rhizosphere microbiome. Specific research themes include in silico modeling of the rhizosphere microbiome, metagenomic systems biology, computational analysis of species interaction and community structure, and metatranscriptome analysis. The aim of the research is to study and genetically modify microbial community members in the rhizosphere, to improve plant growth and well being.
 
We are looking for highly motivated PhD student with potential and track record of research excellence in computational biology, microbial ecology or molecular microbiology, to take key role in a project aiming at:
1) Metagenomic and metatranscriptomic analysis of microbial community composition and function on plant roots.
2) Genetically modifying dominant root colonizing bacteria to study genetic machinery involved in root colonization and dominance.
 
 
Interested applicants should submit a CV, a brief (2-3 paragraphs) statement of her/his research interests and experience, and contact information of three references to Dror Minz
