Saturday October 1, 2pm
Shaw Neighborhood & Food Tour with Carpe DC

This tour is designed to get you up to speed by exploring the neighborhood’s changing culture and cuisine and will take guests to a number of restaurants, including old favorites and trendy new eateries.Register at: carpedcfoodtours.com

 

Saturday Oct 1, 5pm
Common Threads

New Community Artspace: 614 S Street NW (basement)
Register and help us unravel the thread in various directions throughout the neighborhood and end up at Shaw Tavern. More info>>

Saturday October 1, 5-7pm
What's Going On: Voices of Shaw Happy Hour and Thank You Ceremony
Shaw's Tavern: 520 Florida Ave NW

Join us for a Happy Hour celebrating the Shaw Community in conjunction with 'What's Going On: Voices of Shaw'. This event features a special performance by WGO artist, Tsedaye Makonnen, ReciproCITY- a crowning ceremony that honors 5 outstanding members of the Shaw community. (Cash bar, light fare provided.) Facebook invite>>

Sunday October 2, 2-3pm
Common Grounds – a performance by Tsedaye Makonnen
Zenebech Restaurant: 608 T Street NW
Tsedaye and a group of participants will perform a coffee ceremony with a twist that encourages participants to take time to savor coffee and conversation amidst the backdrop of the swiftly changing landscape of Shaw.

MMMM… presents Scattered Orchestra, performed by Bohemian Caverns Orchestra
Blagden Alley: 926 N Street NW (Rear) 

Scattered about the streets within the Shaw neighborhood, local musicians will simultaneously play the same music. The music played will be inspired by Duke Ellington, Marvin Gaye and will mostly be of the jazz genre.

Neighborhood Sketchcrawl by Lizzie Sampson
Starting Point: Howard Theater – 620 T St NW
Ending Point: Blagden Alley – 629 N Street NW (Rear)

Inspired by Urban Sketchers, participants will learn three basic drawing techniques for capturing the neighborhood in motion.  (Important: No artistic background required – just the willingness to take risks through drawing).FREE Register here>>
