Parsha of the Week:
Nitzavim: Deuteronomy 29:9-30:20
Judaism of the Week: Elul and Teshuva

This week's parsha talks about teshuva, and we're entering the homestretch to the High Holidays, so let's talk about teshuva ourselves! Last night began the inclusion of the selichot prayers that gets inserted into our daily davening as we approach Rosh Hoshana.

Beyond that, let's explore some customs of the month of Elul:
  • The shofar is blown every weekday morning (but not Shabbat)
  • We are encouraged to seek forgiveness to the wrongs we've done to others (more on this coming soon!)
  • It's a good time to visit a cemetery to visit passed loved ones and contemplate The World to Come
  • Check those mezuzahs and teffilin for any issues - you want to start the new year out right!
Parshat Nitzavim: The People "Sign" their Covenant
Moshe puts the fear of G-d into the heart of the Israelites on his final day.
