Parsha of the Week:
Noah: Genesis 6:9-11:32

Judaism of the Week: Six Constant Mitzvot

Looking for a way to connect to the story of Noah? The Rabbis tell us that the six directions that you build the ark (left, right, forward, behind, above, below) correspond to the six constant mitzvot. They are:
  1. To believe in God
  2. To reject the possibility of any other God
  3. To believe in His complete Oneness
  4. To fear Him
  5. To love Him
  6. To not stray after forbidden desires
These are the mitzvot we should follow ALL the time, and, like the ark, it builds up a protection against the negative forces of the world. To get really into this, check out this article.
